After an accident, the way back to the old form is challenging. During running, ground contact can be initiated in different ways: from heel, mid-foot or fore foot. Human walking predominantly has a clear heel-to-toe roll-off pattern which differentiates our movement from most animals.

A recent study by Mesquita et al. shows that this speciality of human walking results in an energetic advantage and optimized gait and can be seen as an advantage of the evolution of bipedal posture.

Yesterday, the first EU Declaration of Conformity according to the new Medical Device Regulation MDR (EU) 2017/745 for the risk class IIb medical devices got signed. Therefore, as of yesterday, the latest design treadmill series quasar and pulsar with MCU6 user terminal are now available as medical grade devices.

This week, we had the pleasure to welcome our gaitway 3d customers from the University of Rzeszów and our distributors from Poland Technomex in the Cologne area! It was a great opportunity for an intense exchange with customers from different but closely connected fields of application: the biomechanics labs at the Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln and GETICS were the perfect spot for scientifical topics and research (both are also home to a gaitway 3d) and the performance labs offered additional perspectives to the analysis of human movement.

Soccer players run at variant speeds throughout a game. A recent study by Brian Hanley et al. from the Carnegie School of Sport at Leeds Beckett University utilized a gaitway 3d instrumented treadmill to asses the duty factor, a dimensionless ratio based on temporal variables.

The duty factor, as the ratio of contact duration to stride duration, turns out to be an effective measure to categorize running styles amongst the soccer players.
