With the beginning of spring, triathletes again intensify their trainings to reach maximum power for the upcoming challenges! Oversize and high performance treadmills such as our venus® or saturn® allow both running and cycling with speeds of up to 80km/h. The physiologic differences between cycling and running have been subject to a recent study (performed on a saturn 450/300rs aka “the beast”)! The study investigated the gross and delta efficiencies during uphill (+ 2.5 °) running and cycling of each 5 female and male elite triathletes!
The result: facing moderate inclines, elite triathletes are more energy efficient during cycling than running!
