Some installations need a little bit more preparation and effort than others do. Last week, our exclusive UK distributor and very experienced service partner HaB Direct and some of our specialists gathered at Leeds Beckett University's Carnegie School of Sports to jointly do an extraordinary installation of a gaitway® 3d.

Some of the challenges: the post-and-beam construction wooden floor in the “Human Movement Research Laboratory” made it necessary to connect the device directly with the concrete ground some dozen centimetres below to assure validity of the highly sensitive force and pressure sensors. At the same time, the full installation had to be kept movable to maintain the functionality of laboratory itself as well as the existing 3d mocap system in the lab for any other application!

The result: the gaitway® 3d validly and simultaneously measures 3D force and pressure due to the on-demand bolting and decoupling to the concrete floor while still being easily movable within the laboratory based on the newly designed portable base plate with retractable rolls!

It was with massive preparation, a lot of engineering and even more on site craftsmanship that this installation could be led to success. We would like to thank the team of Leeds Beckett University for this challenge and their ongoing trust in h/p/cosmos treadmills as well as HaB Direct’s excellence in service and profession. Last week’s gaitway® 3d installation is the current highlight of the various installations at Leeds Beckett University that include mercury, quasar, pulsar, saturn as well as the “predecessor” gaitway II S back in 2004.
