Interface control of treadmills. Risks with non-compliance of safety features
this letter is a safety warning concerning the chest belt of the h/p/cosmos safety arch. If mistakes occur through neglecting the use instructions of the chest belt by the user, and the system is put on incorrectly, it can lead to a defect. End users are currently being informed and requested to return the chest belt to h/p/cosmos for modification free of charge. After modification the chest belt will be safe even in case of incorrect use.
With following invoice numbers customers have been supplied via you also with the respective chest belt:
Trotz vieler tausend Stunden Tests und trotz mehrmonatiger Testphase im Werk und auch bei ausgesuchten Pilotprojekten hat sich bei der letzten Firmware MCU5 v1.01.7 für Laufbänder, produziert vom 1. Oktober 2007 bis einschliesslich 5. Dezember 2007, ein sicherheitsrelevanter Fehler eingeschlichen, der bei normaler Anwendung kaum zu entdecken ist.
Es könnte speziell bei Schnittsstellenanwendungen zu einem Absturz der Laufband-Firmware kommen und zu unkontrollierten Programmabläufen. Zudem beinhalten die Speicherplätze 21 bis 28 falsche Defaultwerte.

Identification of concerned medical devices and equipment:
All h/p/cosmos treadmills built in 2014 and 2015 equipped with a ripcord, clip and magnetic switch:
coscom v1 and coscom v2 will be deleted automatically from the MicroControllerUnits MCU5 during the next Firmware Update of the treadmill.
MCU6 never included coscom v1, v2 or v3.
MCU4 controllers (build from 1997 until 2007) cannot be updated but can be upgraded with MCU5 including coscom v3 and coscom v4.
For MCU1, MCU2 and MCU3 controller in UserTerminals (build from 1988 until 2001) no updates or upgrades are available.

Safety Update: for old coscom v1 and coscom v2 interface protocols
In the very old coscom v1 and coscom v2 interface protocols the command of a negative speed (e.g. -0.5 km/h) can lead to unwanted acceleration.
Do not send negative speed commands via RS232 interface when working with coscom v1 or coscom v2. Upgrade to coscom v3 or coscom v4 as soon as possible!
Safety Update: Danger when using incorrect residual current devices (RCD / RCCB) in domestic electrical installations.
Residual current circuit breakers (RCCB) switch off the power supply when dangerously high residual currents occur. In this way, they protect people, animals and installations.
